Hashtag #Sustainability, Regenerative, Conscious Luxury, Green, Eco-friendly, every word is about putting the Planet first. The pandemic and its effects that have rolled in to 2020 and 2021, brought out small stories and forgotten images – from being able to see distant mountains clearly, breathing cleaner air, listening to the symphony of songbirds and more to an awareness that there is a gentler, kinder and empathetic way of doing things. The question is will the memory of 2020 stay with us?
Never before has there been a collective call for consuming with consciousness on a global scale. Travel now has new value parameters that nudges every consultant, promoter, tourism body and traveller to be self-conscious about what he curates for travel consumption. And if experience has been luxury’s legitimate consort, travel and hospitality can no longer claim luxury without being accountable for and inclusive of nature, environment and people. We always believe that this path to conscious travel is a collective highway where we hold hands and walk together.
The RARE community of hotels owners and experience curators are hard wired from ideation to operation, continuously evolving to light-foot their offerings in tandem with the demand for being ‘sustainable, regenerative and sensitive’. An early idea was to make this fun, easy and identifiable. Our design team headed by Pooja and Nandish of @PNJXN coded a simple and fun way to spin sustainable and regenerative travel right into our offices, homes and consciousness. |

Our latest conscious travel coding is a pinwheel – an innocent, playful and hopeful symbolism of harnessing the energy that earth bestows upon us. A pinwheel wielding child is ecstatic with joy, movement, curiosity and unalloyed wonder. Is that not why we all travel? The pinwheel then is the perfect representation of travel that is light and ecstatic guiding us where the wind blows. The blades of the pinwheel that catch the wind are home to the cardinal principles and the folds, important for the integrity of it all, house the ordinal attributes. The pivot is the human touch as a heart of two tiny thumb prints, its definition vastly expanded to be omnipotent, inclusive and places the responsibility squarely on the human race. |
