An ode to a Camp that was...

This has to go down as one Camp that was perfect as a RARE partner. The couple Min-Ri and their babies – Bhalu, Titli, Daku, Choti together played gracious hosts on a camp that literally celebrated the earth it stood on and revered the people who were a part of it, nothing absolutely nothing came between you and experience of living wild and free.

Camp Nights illuminated by the wink of the stars, paths lit by the glow of lanterns and to sleep in cottages, to lie in absolute darkness and wonder at sounds till a dreamless sleep enveloped you… what is that scratching, slithering , butting sound. Was that a low growl ?

Ah ! to wake up to more birds than you can count each singing their hymns to the sun. Today the camp is a home you are welcome to if you are a friend or nature’s child. The grounds still bears testimony to a Camp that welcomed nature lovers and bird nuts with wide welcoming arms, saw you off right to the edge of the fence, never mind if you went for a trek or a day’s drive or back to your home far away….the hostess stood at the gate waving to you till you were out of sight or she was. And if you were startled by the cackle of the flock of white crested laughing thrush, you can be sure she would have had a hearty laugh !!
