The new three-bedroom, luxurious Edwina Villa perfectly complements the four existing suites. Each features, expansive stone-and-marble bathrooms, built-in massage beds, double rainfall showers and bathtubs. Outside are private plunge pools and sitting areas with fire pits. Two suites have fireplaces; the two-bedroom suite works beautifully for families with interconnecting rooms. All have nature-viewing balconies and personal valet service.

The Mountbatten Lodge sits between two of India's most significant historic sites: the magnificent Ranakpur Jain Temples and the mighty Kumbhalgarh Fort, home to the world's second-longest wall. Nestled in the rugged Aravalli Hills in a scenic valley bordered by Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, this opulent lodge offers luxury and serenity, a rural haven away from the noise and bustle of Rajasthan's major cities. It sits just 80 kilometres from Udaipur, making it a perfect stopover or destination in its own right.
Design and Concept
Named after Lord Louis Mountbatten, India's last Viceroy, who reputedly camped here, The Mountbatten Lodge combines colonial-era style and royal Jodhpur heritage. Owner Reggie Singh, a distant cousin of the Jodhpur Maharaja, has created the property as an intimate retreat comprising one three bedroom self-contained villa and four large suites, set within the Aravalli landscape. Think huge rooms, private plunge pools, open-air living, stylish dinners served by attentive staff, and being utterly pampered.

Reggie Singh, a member of the extended Rathore family of Jodhpur, runs The Mountbatten Lodge with his oldest son Hemendra and daughter in law Sonakshi. Known for his unconventional style and enthusiasm for hospitality, Reggie previously created one of India’s earliest luxury desert camps near Jaisalmer. At The Mountbatten Lodge, he has combined his interest in wilderness travel and safaris with a personal approach to hosting. The predominantly Rathore clan staff take enormous pride in being associated with this idyllic retreat. Reggie's early-morning walks are legendary, during which he shares a lifetime of stories, anecdotes, history, and insights into modern India.
Facilities
The lodge's jeeps take you on morning or afternoon leopard safaris through the Aravallis, and in the evening up into the hills for spectacular sundowners served with carefully prepared refreshments. Indigenous Marwari horses carry you through the countryside on riding trails, or you can settle into shaded gardens and verandas, chat or lose yourself in a book. The main lodge, which is Mountbatten's beating heart, houses the bar, a roaring fireplace and the billiards table. Reggie's jazz music plays through the evening, setting the mood as relaxation slides into revelry. And, if Reggie himself joins in, the party doesn't end in a hurry!
Dining
Breakfasts, early or late, are served on the breakfast terrace, lunches unfold under the 300-year-old banyan tree, and dinner becomes a candlelit spectacle in the dining room, or adjoining courtyard under the stars. The cuisine celebrates local and international flavours with fresh ingredients, while sundowners honour colonial tradition with gin and tonics accompanied by canapés. Everything's beautifully customisable; dining times, locations, and menus all tailored to your tastes. It's this thoughtful flexibility and flair that make a stay at Mountbatten unforgettable. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included as part of the tariff.
Experiences
Some of the signature activities here include the Leopard Safari, which is a must if you are keen to see one of India’s most elusive cats in the wild and will take you the better part of an afternoon. Riding trails to explore the countryside on horseback combined with camping in the wild are some of the recommended adventures, while jeep safaris into the Aravallis to catch the iridescent sunsets are a time to toast your time on earth with a chilled drink. It would surely be a moment to remember, seated right on top of a hill and on the edge, traditional G&T in hand, watching a spectacle that plays out in front of you!

The main lodge, which is the heart of Mountbatten Lodge, is a hub of social activity as it houses the bar, charming artefacts, old family photos of a bygone era, a billiards table, and plenty of places to just be. This is also where Reggie’s collection of Jazz music plays through the evening, setting the mood for relaxation and revelry. And on those occasions that Reggie joins in... the party doesn’t end in a hurry.

Off the beaten path, the Ranakpur Dam is a serene spot ideal for a quiet afternoon. Not many tourists make it here, so you’ll often have the place to yourself.
