Managed by Bhupendra Singh Chundawat of the erstwhile royal family of Bassi, Prem Kunj reflects a personal vision of hospitality rooted in local culture, outdoor exploration, and unhurried living. Its proximity to both Badi Lake and Udaipur allows guests to balance time in nature with the city's rich heritage.

Premkunj has eight rooms, each stylish in décor and unique in design. Ground-floor Luxury Pool rooms overlook the pool and inspire relaxation, whilst first-floor Luxury Mountain View rooms offer views of Sajjangarh and the Aravalli beyond. Each spacious room features a king-sized bed, a work area, and a private balcony with views of nature. An extra bed can accommodate three adults or two adults and a child, making the rooms flexible for families or friends.

Badi Village, just 30 minutes from Udaipur, sits adjacent to the verdant Sajjangarh Wildlife Reserve and is surrounded by the Aravalli Hills, the world's oldest mountain range. It’s a 10-minute walk to Badi Lake and a 30-minute drive to Udaipur, which means you can enjoy early morning walks and birdwatching, then explore the city's palaces and bazaars.

Design & Concept

The dream was to create a luxurious homestay that offered experiences transcending mere services and amenities. Once the perfect location surrounded by nature and birdsong was found, things began to take shape. Two years later, the dream became a reality. Premkunj's attention to detail shines through in its architecture, artfully designed interiors, and hand-picked art and artefacts, and, together with experiences in the Aravalli that frame the property, makes it a memorable property.

Hosts

Bhupendra Singh Chundawat belongs to the Royal family of Bassi, Chittorgarh, 150 kilometres from Udaipur. Rulers of that land for 500 years with the title 'Rawat', he resides in the ancestral family residence with his mother. Bhupendra has been an avid traveller and storyteller all his life. When not managing the finer details at Premkunj with genuine warmth and hospitality, he can be found horse-riding, travelling, listening to music, and playing polo.

Facilities

Reading corners and the library lounge provide quiet spaces for relaxation. The organic garden is a delight, allowing guests to pick vegetables and herbs with the chef's team for their next meal, whilst special barbecue evenings can be hosted on request. If you are feeling adventurous, nature and village walks, treks into the nearby sanctuary, and horseback riding can all be arranged. And the deep blue pool is the perfect spot for serious rest.

Dining

At Premkunj, meals are created to suit every palate, from traditional Rajasthani cuisine to continental and oriental fare. Guests can choose vegetables and herbs directly from the organic garden with the chef's team, who then prepare the selections for the next meal. The kitchen is also happy to accommodate special dietary requirements for meals, which can be enjoyed indoors in the air-conditioned restaurant, on the terrace or al fresco under the stars.

Experience

Apart from the sights of Udaipur city, there is plenty to do at Premkunj. The pool is the ideal place to unwind after a day out. Yoga and meditation sessions can be organized upon prior request. Evenings are for bonfires and barbecues, with cultural performances available on request.
